DESCRIPTION:XLV Competition Law Scholars Forum (CLaSF) Workshop\nCompetition Law in Transition\nFriday 17 April 2026\nUniversity of Lisbon Law School\nThe Competition Law Scholars Forum (CLASF) is pleased to announce its XLV workshop\, focusing on the broad topic of ‘Competition Law in Transition’. This is particularly timely given the ongoing debates about the role of competition law in civic society in western democracies. \nWe welcome papers that explore this broad themes from doctrinal\, economic\, comparative\, or policy-oriented perspectives. Topics of particular interest include (but are not limited to): \n\nCompetition law as a system of ex post facto censure or ex ante regulation\nThe compatibility (or tension) between wider policy goals and EU competition law\nThe appropriate balance of different enforcement tools and approaches in competition law enforcement\nComparative approaches to balancing competition law with broader policy objectives\nTheoretical re-evaluations of competition law’s objectives in the post-globalisation era.\nThe use of different research methodologies to best explore and understand competition law in transition\n\nAs always\, we welcome contributions from early-career and established researchers alike\, as well as from practitioners and policy-makers. The Workshop is in-person only and will be held at the University of Lisbon Law School. \nPlease submit abstracts of 500–1\,000 words by Februarty 20 2026 to Professor Barry Rodger <barry.j.rodger@strath.ac.uk>\nDecisions will be communicated by 2 March 2026. \nA draft of the presentation or paper should be submitted a week before the event. Selected papers may be considered for publication in the Competition Law Review\, a fully refereed scholarly law journal. \nWe look forward to your contributions to this timely and significant discussion. \n
